With the Fall semester already here, I've come to terms with the fact that this school year will be looking different than others. It's been a big adjustment for many, myself included. Despite my university reopening, I made the difficult decision to switch to being an online student. This decision was not easy, and like many I was sad that I would not be returning to campus for my second year. But when I truly thought it all through, there are just as many amazing things that could come out of learning from home as well!

If you would have asked me a year ago; "Would you consider doing school online?" I'd have flat out told you no. I never thought that I would be capable of being completely in charge of my learning. The thought just seemed so daunting! Not because I'm not a motivated student, but because I had never fully experienced what it was like. Back in March, when Covid-19 caused so many of us to abruptly begin working and learning from home, it became clear to me that learning online was not a scary as I had made it out to be! So I thought that with the new semester approaching I might share some tips on how I keep motivated while working from home!

Establish a Routine

My number one strategy for keeping motivated is establishing a routine. For me this means waking up by 7am every week day, getting ready, eating breakfast, and then going for a walk or doing something I enjoy before I begin working at 9am. Getting ready and establishing a routine for myself helps me to focus better and ultimately provides me with a clear mind for a more productive day.

Create a Work Space

If you're like me, you don't have a set home office or desk. But it's important to establish a work space. It could be anywhere! Maybe your kitchen or dining room table, even your patio! Just keep in mind when selecting your work space that it's a place you will not become easily distracted. You want this space to be comfortable and productive!

Take Breaks

I can't stress enough how important it is to take breaks! Sometimes it can be hard to stop when you get in the groove of things, but taking a break is a good reminder to breathe. Your break doesn't have to be long, you can simply stand up and stretch, or grab a quick snack to refuel, before getting back to business! And if you're not in the groove, then your break can serve as a little something to look forward too!

Keep Organized

When working independently it's crucial to stay organized. You are your own accountability partner. That being said, my most used purchase every year is my planner. Unfortunately, this year it hasn't been filled with travel days and coffee dates, but it's still proven to be of good use! Having a planner is a great way to stay on track, you can write down all of your tasks for the day, as well as any up coming due dates.

Take Care & Reward Yourself

As important as it is to set goals and meet dead lines throughout the week, it can be mentally exhausting. Give yourself something to look forward to! Throughout the week I like to keep these things simple, maybe it's reading a book, or doing a face mask. I even plan bigger "rewards" for the end of the week. By rewarding yourself, you're creating incentive. You're creating something to look forward to throughout the week, and it can incise you to keep working... even when you don't feel like it.

I know these aren't for everybody, but I hope that you find these tips helpful! Let me know how you are keeping motivated during these times, I'd love to hear from you! Have a great day, and happy working!

Growing up I was always very interested in makeup. I used to love sitting in the bathroom as a little girl, watching my Mom get ready for work. The idea of makeup was just so fun to me! When it comes to makeup I don't believe that there is a right and a wrong! And I love seeing peoples different takes on what beauty looks like through their eyes! Makeup to me, is about enhancing your natural beauty, not covering it up!Throughout high school I kept my makeup very clean. I took time in the mornings to carefully apply each product, and I genuinely took pride in the outcome. But since starting university last Fall, I can honestly say, I value my time in the morning alot more now! With late nights and busy days, I like to keep my routine simple. So for todays post I thought I would share my lazy girl makeup routine!

I am a firm believer in that the key to having your makeup look its best, is having a good base! Before I ever apply any makeup I always wash my face, moisturize, and apply my SPF! I wear sunscreen on my face every day, even in the Winter. (This is something that I learned from my Mom!)

My all time favourite base product is the Rodan + Fields Radiant Defence. The Radiant Defence is a product that I never change up, it can double as both a foundation and a concealer. It starts off as a light coverage product, but it's super buildable! I apply this product throughout my T zone, covering up any redness, under my eyes, and on any blemishes that I might have.

Next, I apply my blush. My favourite is the MILANI Romantic Rose blush. It gives a natural flush and looks great on all skin tones! I typically stick to rose toned blushes as I have fair skin and feel that that suits me best. I usually apply my blush higher up on my cheeks and bring it across the bridge of my nose just because I think it looks prettier and more natural.

Highlighter is something that I tend to switch up. I lean more toward the peachy and cream tones. I don't have a specific highlighter that I love, but I am enjoying the one that I am currently using! It gives a very natural shimmer and is perfect for this girl on the go!

To finish up my face makeup I powder my T zone to make sure that nothing moves on me throughout the day! Powder is another product that I tend to switch up. My favourite, which I am currently using, is the RIMMEL LONDON Stay Matte powder!

Next up is brows! My holy grail brow product is the Foolproof Brow Powder by Benefit! I like to do my brows by filling in the sparser areas with a little bit of powder, and then building on that if needed. I have very dark hair and fair skin, so I like to keep my brows pretty natural so that they aren't too intense. I usually set my brows with a clear gel!

Mascara is not a product that I am super picky about! As long as it is waterproof and not clumpy I am a happy camper! My current mascara is the Stila HUGE Extreme Lash Mascara and I am loving it!

To complete the look I always reach for my MAC lipsticks! Usually I stick to my favourite nude, Velvet Teddy, or Russian Red! Either way I apply my lipsticks starting in the centre of my lips and then blend them out with my finger for a softer daytime look!

I hope you enjoyed this little post on my super simple makeup routine! As always, the products I used are linked! Thank you so much for reading! Have a lovely day!

Lately the world has been an uncertain place. And I think it's safe to say that many of us have had a lot on our minds. When I think back to a year ago and the season of life I was in, I realize how much of a difference one year makes! Tough seasons teach us to continue to push through and grow. They teach us to keep chasing our dreams and to follow our heart! We all go through difficult seasons and so I wanted to come on and share a few of my favourite quotes as a reminder to myself and to others of things we can all benefit from when we need a little motivation.

You've Survived

When you truly think about it, even on your worst days, you somehow managed to pull through and survive! Your toughest days are some of the most rewarding. You should hold great pride in knowing that you made it through every minute! It's important to take comfort in knowing that you have made it through the day.

A Fresh Start

It's important to remember that even after our toughest days we can start fresh every morning. This is one of my favourite reminders because it is so simple! I love that each day we can hit the reset button and begin with a whole new mindset.

Work it Girl

I have NEVER seen a dream come true without putting any time and effort in. If you want it, work for it! Dreams are one of life's greatest gifts. They allow us to envision and create a life we want to lead! They inspire us, humble us and help us become better versions of ourselves! The work we put in to achieve them is some of the most fulfilling work we ever do.

You've Got This

We've all been there. The moment after you've constructed the perfect (...or not so perfect) plan to achieve your dream. The moment when the self doubt all comes crashing in on you. IGNORE IT! Remember that this is YOUR dream, and because of that you already have what it takes to make it happen!

The Right Headspace

Sometimes it can be difficult. We get stuck in a rut and it's just easier to think negatively. In my opinion, one of our most incredible abilities as humans is the ability to switch up our mindset. I'm no athlete, but they say that in sports, every game is played with the mindset of being 10% skill and 90% mental. It can be difficult at times but once you begin owning your mindset and focusing in on what you truly desire you'll experience a game changer!

Remembering How Far You've Come

This is one of my favourite quotes of all time! When I set new goals or have a new dream I wish to pursue I sit back and think..."Would 9 year old me be proud of where I am at and how far I have come?" I often think back to times when I struggled, either as a child or as a teenager. By doing this I am able to realize how far I have truly come. When you accomplish your goals and your dreams it's important to sit back and look around. Soak in all of the hard work, late nights, time, and effort you punt in, even when you didn't think you had anymore. That was all YOU! And when you look back to the past at the younger you, know that they are smiling and filled with an overwhelming pride when they look at how far you have come!

Thanks for reading my thoughts! I hope that this brings you a little motivation to keep pushing through, even when life feels tough! If you can imagine yourself living the life you want, you can create the life you deserve!
